Enjoy the natural beauty of Guatemala in the peaceful Lake Atitlan area as you reset from the stress of daily life and deepen your personal practice.
Doron Hanoch and the team at Doron Yoga & Zen Center (DYZC) will guide you through bringing awareness to your thought patterns so you can consciously bring more peace and happiness into your everyday life. Side effects may include better sleep, reduced stress, a clam mind, unconditional joy, and greater ease in navigating your relationships.
I highly recommend Doron Yoga Center. It is a beautiful place with a wonderful and friendly environment. Doron is an amazing person and extraordinary teacher. Everyone at the center was helpful, polite and kind. Anji and Samantha are great teachers too. I am so happy that I decided to go here and enjoy a new joyful experience. It is such a peaceful retreat.
I went to DYZC for the New Year’s retreat and it was the most amazing experience. Everything from the beautiful location, the harmonious center, the delicious food, the helpful staff, and of course Doron and his practice and teachings. It was a truly rejuvenating week that allowed me to reconnect. Give yourself this space and this time...you will love it!
Core Subject: Ashtanga-Vinyasa Yoga
Doron is a Certified 550 hour Yoga Teacher (ERYT), Director ofthe Doron Yoga School (RYS 200 and 500), and Founder and CEO of the Doron Yoga & Zen Center at Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.Doron’s teachings are based on the foundation of tradition with a practical and non-dogmatic way. His classes are strong but go at a pace that allows lots of awareness and focus. He teaches with extreme detail, shares a lot of informative tips both for body and mind, and keeps the class flowing with a fun energy infused with humor.
Doron Yoga & Zen Center is a spiritual eco village, based on permaculture principleswith touches of Zen. It manifests the power and energy of the magnificent lake Atitlan. The lake can be majestically viewed from our grounds, with volcanoes and local villages perfectly framing the scene. We are part of the Maya village of Tzununa in Guatemala. Located 7-minute walk from the lake. Hammocks hang by the river and gardens, and connecting paths are all paved with local stone.
Your days begin with pranayama (breathing practices), meditation, and yoga asana. This practice, which lasts a total of 2.5 hours, is the perfect way to begin your day from a place of bliss. Practice is followed by a yummy and nutritious breakfast featuring a variety of superfoods. After eating, retreat guests have a break, providing an opportunity to relax or explore. We are happy to help arrange activities such as stand up paddle boarding, massages, market visits, Volcano hikes and more.
In the afternoon we offer inspiring workshops, providing the opportunity to dive even deeper into your yoga practice and engage further with an expert yoga teacher.

All of our accommodations are new construction and built with ecological practices in mind. Rustic and charming, rooms have either a jungle, garden, or lake view; they are decorated with murals, local art and textiles.
The property offers three types of rooms: private rooms with ensuite bathrooms, private rooms with shared bathrooms, and dormitory rooms with shared bathrooms. All bathrooms have showers with either gas or solar heated water and western toilets (eco treatment). We source water from a spring supplied by the municipality as well as river water that runs through the property.
We have three private rooms and two dormitories which share bathroom facilities. Private rooms sleep two people, while dormitories sleep 5 – 6 people. Our shared bathroom is outdoors with private stalls; it has three western-style toilets, two showers and two sinks with gas-heated water.
We currently have three private rooms with en-suite bathrooms in our “Casa Amor” log cabin accommodation. These rooms each have a skylight and a bathroom featuring a shower with locally sourced slate. Other elements include hand carved mirrors, bamboo and wood finishings, local hand crafted furniture and orthopedic beds. The three rooms share a deck with hammocks and chairs overlooking our beautiful garden and Lake Atitlan.
Our founder, Doron Hanoch, has training as a holistic chef, and brings his nutritional wisdom into every dish we serve here at DYZC. Every meal is made with seasonal, local ingredients, fresh veggies, and herbal teas. Much of the food on our plates grows right here in our own sustainable gardens. Every meal is full of special touches that elevate it in terms of nutrition. Our oatmeal, for example, is packed full of chia seeds, flax seeds, coconut, and other super foods. We grow our own coffee, bananas, avocados, lettuce, a variety of herbs and many other fruits and vegetables. When possible, add-ons like our peanut butter, jam, and lightly fermented sauerkraut are all homemade on site by our dedicated kitchen staff. It’s a heaven for health-conscious foodies.
