    Karen has been teaching yoga for over 3 years, after leaving her corporate job in the UK.She has practiced and taught in places like Thailand, India, Malaysia and London. She has co-led and assisted in various Teacher Training courses and led yoga alignment workshops and wellness retreats. There is a holistic approach to her practice, where breath work, body awareness and mindfulness are always encouraged. Her classes are alignment based, with variations and modifications to suit all levels.

Mornings begin with meditation and practice. The days are full of an exhaustive study of yoga postures, philosophy, methodology. Afternoons conclude with practice and self-reflection. All accompanied by healthy and delicious meals and with qualified and experienced teachers, known for their talent and specialties and offering the best education and help both inside and outside of class.

La Casa Shambala offers you an immersion in the yogi lifestyle and the path of teaching from the heart. Throughout this course, you will have the experience of living in community while you surround yourself with healing power of nature.

This is the best way to connect the mind, body and soul. Students get a mix of the art of teaching yoga asana, along with the well-rounded exposition in philosophy, lifestyle and yoga techniques. Emphasis is placed on the practice and development of teaching skills, including how to organize a class, create trust, pranayamas, philosophy and how to make corrections to postures. You will learn how to teach yoga with precision, emphasizing the presence of the heart.

The fundamentals of this program are based on Vinyasa Flow and Hatha sequences and will allow you to develop and nurture your own teaching style. The course emphasizes teaching from beginners to intermediate levels. Therefore we focus on safety, the use of props, correct breathing and alignment as well as restorative asana, relaxation and meditation.

We also go into more dynamic and strong asanas to improve strength, resistance and willpower. Students must respect their own limitations and are not expected to exercise beyond their own physical abilities.

We offer cozy bamboo bungalows for guests joining us for training and retreats.  We have options for private bungalows, bungalows for couples or friends, or shared accommodation (to be paired with one other student), all surrounded by a lush tropical jungle and magical gardens.

Each unit has a comfy mattresses, a fan, mosquito nets and electric sockets to charge your devices as well as free WiFi.

We provide shared bathroom and shower facilities with hot water for our students and guests.

We also have separate staff housing for those volunteering with us. Inquire for more details.

All meals are made with healthy organic vegan foods. La Casa Shambala may be able to meet any specific dietary requirements (including vegetarian meals) but please send them an inquiry first to be sure.

Our food is all Ayurvedic and is prepared with lots of love, but we are always open to talk about the menu with the students and improve/change things if necessary.

Our methods of teaching are interactive, focusing on a fully immersive yoga experience, teaching, and group dynamics. This course include methods of reflective self-analysis as well as a proper diet, all in a lovely, private Thai-style home.

La Casa Shambala


Welcome to La Casa Shambala, a yoga community situated in the paradise island of Koh Phangan, Thailand.  We offer monthly Yoga Teacher Training Courses surrounded by jungle and turquoise water and focus on the complete retreat experience for all our students.

Our students live together with the volunteers of La Casa and the rest of our team and together we make possible the magic that happens here every month. The idea is to create a sharing space where, even during the process of the deep immersion into the yogic life, we stay with the same people in a real contact with nature, not escaping or getting distracted from it.

From our yoga shala you have a complete view of mountains and jungle, so no hotels, bungalows or buildings to be seen. This is a luxury that unfortunately you cannot find often anymore. You will stay in a little paradise full of art made from the many wonderful people that have visited us, which is always good for the heart.

  • For this retreat we require a 30% deposit to secure the booking. Payments can be made by PayPal or bank transfer.
  • For remaining balance, this is due 30 days before the course starts.
