Zen - Meditation and Yoga Retreat offers you an opportunity to immerse yourself into a beautiful daily healing yoga practice and an introduction to the benefits of a daily meditation practice. Enjoy four days of classes, country and forest walks and delicious vegetarian food to nurture and nourish your soul.

We also offer the healing practice of yoga Nidra. Learn to deeply relax, breath gently, and allow your body to rejuvenate itself during this beautiful practice. Yoga Nidra can impact positively on our nervous and digestive system, as well as assist with general health problems such as stress, anxiety, and insomnia.

Program Description

All the yoga and meditation practices will take place in the morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The morning and evening classes are offered in yoga, meditation, yoga Nidra, and mindful walks through the forests that surround our home and studio.

Candlelit evening relaxation classes are available. The afternoons are a time for relaxation, swimming in the pool, reading, or resting in the shade on one of the lovely terraces.

All classes and courses will take place in the morning in the beautiful studio or garden. The studio has been carefully renovated from a traditional barn which has been transformed into a calming yoga space.

Valerie Meigetsu

Core Subject: Yoga
Valerie is a Buddhist, Psychotherapist and Yoga Teacher who trained with Zen Master Daizan Roshi. She also studied with several other teachers and organisations such as Rigpa, Oxford Mindfulness Centre & Mindfulness in Education with Thich Nhat Hanh. She recently furthered her training with the Heart of Living Yoga foundation studying Therapeutic Gentle Yoga for healing. Valerie received the precepts of the Bodhisattvas in the Zen lineage of Gyokuryuji and was given the Dharma name Zendo Meigetsu, Zenways Bright Moon. She has a love and passion for sharing her practice with other seekers.

Location

The traditional farmhouse and yoga studio is situated in the heart of the Dordogne countryside between the villages of Tocane St Apre and Douchapt. From the house and gardens, you will enjoy uninterrupted views across the valley and be able to enjoy relaxing walks through the surrounding forests and sunflower fields.

A typical day on retreat

  • 08:30 Morning bell - fruit and teas

  • Afternoon leisure time
  • 18:00  Evening practice restorative yoga is offered in the studio/guided evening walks through the forest & countryside

Accommodation

We offer six twin guest bedrooms which are all individually decorated. Three bedrooms are located in the main house and three in the barn. There are six showers including a large wet room available to our guests, linen, bath and pool towels are provided.

There are several terraces located around the house for outdoor dining and relaxing. From June-September the Bell tent in the garden also offers shade from the afternoon sun and is a lovely place to chill. It is also available as a bedroom for those that would like to spend an evening under the stars.

Food

Zen - Meditation & Yoga Retreat offer a delicious balanced menu of locally sourced organic fruit and vegetables, homemade soups and vegetarian dishes to nourish your appetites. The meals are served on a large communal table on the terrace (weather permitting) and are served by the in-house cook. Out of season, all meals are served in the farmhouse kitchen. Complimentary teas and organic fresh fruit are available throughout the day.

What Makes This Program Special?

Zen yoga is essentially a holistic practice which trains you to completely immerse yourself in an activity emphasizing on physical alignment, the flow of energy in the body, and awareness. The physical exercises of Zen yoga help you to open up, unblock the body, and prepare it for sitting meditation. It is a gentle process that is concerned with the awareness of the body and its sensation.

Zen yoga is based on the meridian system, the 12 major meridians are energy pathways in which ki (energy) moves throughout the body. We believe that the body, mind, or emotions can be corrected by addressing the ki in the body and ensuring that it flows in harmony so that the body, mind, and emotions are balanced.

The practice is gentle and healing,  it re-balances the body & mind.

Zen Yoga Retreat

All of our classes and courses will take place in a carefully renovated traditional barn which has been transformed into a beautiful yoga space. A vaulted ceiling, underfloor heating and exposed stonework  creates an intimate space for our daily practice.The  vast windows offer views across the countryside bringing nature right to our front door and flooding the studio with natural light.

Payment And Cancellation Policy

On booking you are required to pay 50% deposit please. Tha balance is to be paid on arrival at the retreat.
