Location

As the trading center of the city, the Medina of Marrakech has for many hundreds of years, been the meeting place for those who walked through the desert with their goods-ladened camels to sell goods from their tribes. The walled city has many narrow streets where you can still wander and haggle for hand-crafted traditional goods. Escaping the chaos for mint-tea and tagine on rooftop terraces whilst the sun sets and the calls to prayer drift into the air becomes a cherished ritual of its own.

Nestled between city and mountains, just 30 kilometers to the south of Marrakech, lies the Agafay Desert, a wild and barren landscape of light-hued rocks – their color apparently lends the desert’s name, which resembles the local Berber word for ‘milk’. Located thirty kilometers in the South of Marrakech, the Agafay remains one of the regions hidden gems. The white dunes are similar to the Sahara but with their own special moon-like magic. Many local Marrakesh retreat here from the hustle and bustle of the Red City for an overnight of stars and stillness.

Moving further out from the Agafay arrives the hillsides of the Atlas Mountains. Containing a number of Berber villages, Argan trees, and a set of waterfalls near the village of Ourika itself, Ourika Valley offers sweeping vistas of diverse microclimates. It is here, in the transition from desert to flowing rivers, beside mountains of 13,000ft elevation that one can revel in the vastness of Morocco.

Join us for a 7-night luxury retreat in the heart of Marrakech's Medina, where we will settle into the flow of Marrakchi life and get to know our way around the artisans of the Souks and traditional Moroccan Rituals. Riad Be will serve as our sanctuary for the week, a place for respite and to connect on the rooftop over mint tea and sunset yoga.

Rising with the sun and the calls to prayer, we will explore into the depths of ourselves as we practice in tandem with understanding the 7 chakras each morning and then again each night. From a balanced schedule of hatha, yin, and yoga nidra to stronger vinyasa and power yoga classes, asana will also be accompanied with a look into the various sides of the energetics of yoga with the inclusion of nada yoga and mantra yoga to help you weave the sounds through your soul.

Setting out to explore and connect with the land, we will take off for an overnight stay into the Agafay Desert to bask in the serenity of open fields, camels, Gnawa music, Berber food, and glamping under the stars.  After a gentle sunrise yoga session, we will trek out to the National Park in the foothills of the Atlas mountains for hiking, meditating, and eating farm-to-table at Kasbah Bab Ourika.

Upon our return to the Medina, we will soak and scrub in the hammam, learn how to source within the Souks the various ingredients and spices of traditional Moroccan cuisine with a cooking course by Souk Cuisine.

Together we will push our edges, spark our imaginations, and open our hearts to the magic of Morocco.

Get to know your retreat schedule and take your curosity to next level:

  • Fill your heart and palate with vegetarian breakfast.

  • Soak yourself in hammam to rejuvenate.

The retreat will be based in the stylish Riad Be within the walls of the Medina in Marrakech. We venture out for an overnight to the Agafay Desert for our own private glamping experience in the comfortable Inara Camp where we practive by sunset and sunrise, dine under the stars, and appreciate the serenity of being still under moonlight.

Plant-based vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian dishes will be served with gluten-free options available at all meals. If you have special dietary restrictions you are also welcome to let us know how we can support you. We hope to share with you the magic of Moroccan cuisine that will open our senses and nourish our bodies.

Most mornings we will dine on the rooftop with best breakfast spread at the Riad Be after our yoga workshops. Meals shared in restaurants, excursions, and in the cooking course will be included and have been selected to share the best of cuisine offered in the Medina of Marrakech with the aim to share as much high-quality, organic, local and farm-fresh produce as possible.
