Overview

Chakras - plural form of chakra - is a Sanskrit word which means ‘wheels of energy’. Our body has seven chakras and when awakened, these seven chakras cause a transformation of consciousness and physical changes in the body.

The body then experiences ultimate health and the mind possess a knowledge which doesn’t belong to this world. An awakened chakra spins or turns, and the sensation can be felt in the body.

Come and awaken your chakras in this yoga retreat with Yoga Eco Oasis.

    Core Subject: Yoga Teacher

Her Words: My style has its roots in Iyengar and Centered yoga systems, in which each aspect of the practice is an opportunity to investigate the body, the brain and the mind, and enter a region of profound inner vision which permits the body of light to shine from within toward the external world. The use of props, such as blocks, belts, chairs or walls helps the practitioner to achieve precision and careful alignment, while providing a gradual and safe approach in learning the postures which strengthens the body while refining the mind. My approach to Yoga is to help people to experience more sensations instead of more thoughts during their yoga practice; create more space and freedom in the body and the mind so they can release tension and breathe better, free up energy and increase creativity. With a focus on cultivating awareness to discover our habitual movement patterns we can then explore alignment in a safe and accessible way, in order to make more conscious choices about how we move on the mat and in life. I’ve been practising Yoga for almost 15 years and have practised and studied with a variety of teachers from different traditions, like Kundalini, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Tantra, Anusara and Centered Yoga. In 2008, I travelled to Soiano dei Lago in Italy to study with Dona Holleman and then went on to gain the 400hr Yoga Instructor Certificate in 2012 at Semilla Yoga, with Claudia Guerrero, Pilar Casillas, Alicia Ramos and Jñana Dakini as my main mentors. Since then I have taught yoga at Semilla Yoga and other Yoga schools, gyms, parks, clinics and offices, sharing the joy of yoga with different people. My studies have included Vipassana meditation and Chinese Traditional Medicine courses, Radiant Child Yoga program with Shakta Khalsa, Centered Yoga Teacher Training with Dona Holleman, Anatomy for movement Training with Marcela Sanchez, Ashtanga Yoga retreat with David Williams, Iyengar Yoga course with Christian Pisano and June Whittaker, Tantra Yoga workshop with Michael Stewart, Yoga Philosophy with Shashi Dhar Dimri, Mindfulness workshops with Alejandro Velasco, Restorative and Therapeutic yoga courses with Luis Becerril, and Mantra Yoga classes with Donald Niedermayer and Paola Giovine. My experience includes teaching yoga to women in prison and running yoga sessions for young people in a youth custody center. I also have experience of teaching yoga to people with mental health and addiction problems in a specialized rehabilitation center in Mexico.

Location

This retreat will take place at the Axarquia region - situated in the eastern part of the province of Málaga. Competa is an inland village in the Axarquia, well-known for the Andalusian legacy of Muslim rule. The location is a privileged tourist destination surrounded by olive groves, almond trees, and a 4000-hectare wildlife reserve in Sierra Almijara, just 15 to 20 kilometres from the main tourist attractions of the Costa del Sol, including the beaches of Torre del Mar, the famous caves of Nerja, and within striking distance of Granada, Sierra Nevada, and other places of interest.

There will be different series of Yin and Yang-based Vinyasa taught to you every day, with Yang every morning and Yin every evening. They are designed to slowly open up the whole body over the course of five days so that by the last day of the retreat, every muscle within your body feels relaxed, rejuvenated, and energized.

The mornings will begin at 8 a.m. with a meditation and yoga session while every evening, there will be a meditation session. Attendance to both of these is highly recommended as these are designed to assist in your detoxification process. During the detoxification process, blockages, and tensions held in the physical, mental, and emotional levels of the body are released.

During the day, you can relax, swim, take part in a therapy session, explore, and walk around the area, and even help out in the organic gardens. The aim is to help you develop your health, learn relaxation techniques, and learn meditation that can help you deal with stress, improve the quality of your life, your happiness, and your sense of well-being.

Note that all the classes are all optional during your yoga retreats. Yoga Eco Oasis wants you to develop at your own pace and they want you to enjoy your stay. They want you to enjoy your yoga retreats as much as possible, to become healthy in mind and body, to learn how to relax and deal with stress, and to learn how to feel at one with yourself. -Exercise, meditation, and relaxation.
