The place is great, the big tents are nearly up in the trees with a great view on the lake. It is like sleeping in the middle of the forest. Nice jacuzzi to use in the evening, and a common area. Plus the food they make is delicious! Activities at a farm nearby (massage (amazing!!), Yoga, cocoa experience) It is a great place to relax for a night or two before continuing on your trip
Ill start off by saying this was the most amazing place I stayed at during my stay in Costa Rica. Waking up to the sounds of howler monkeys and views of the rainforest every morning were just incredible. The food was amazing, cheap, and fresh as everything is from the farm just a 15 min walk through the rainforest trail. The wifi could be better but it was good if you were inside the main building. If you're looking for a unique experience Essence is for you.

Hailing from Cuba and raised in Miami, Florida, Mahela is a passionate yoga practitioner and instructor. She has studied to become a certified Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin yoga instructor as well as a Reiki therapist. Her unclouded focus and passion for bringing positive change in people’s lives motivate her to exceed her limits. To quote her, “Through yoga I learned how to quiet my mind, to understand my thoughts, without letting them rule my life. Yoga changed my life in the best way possible and I want to share everything that I have learned with others.” What more to say, for Mahela yoga is very much like a metaphor for life.

Our Project Director was born in Germany and raised in Spain. Now for the last 16 years, Nico has been living in stunning Costa Rica. Nico is a practitioner and master coach in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Timeline therapy, and is a Naturopath and Hydrotherapist. He studied and developed permaculture and organic farming and is the designer of the Essence Arenal organic farm and edible forest.
